Interact with the Map

After displaying a map, you can interact with the map to perform an address search, draw on the map, measure distances and areas, view the map table of contents, print the map, and view a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Interaction:

  1. Click the Interaction drop down in the upper left corner of the map.
  2. Select from Address Search, Draw, Measure, TOC, Print, or FAQ.

    3. Click on thumbnail images to view full size. Click on the full-size image to return to thumbnail.

To search by address:

  1. Click Address Search in the drop down. The Address Search Widget will display.
  2. Enter an address in widget. A list of matching addresses will display.
  3. Select an address. The map will pan and zoom to the address selected.

To Draw on the map:

  1. Click Draw in the drop down. The Map Draw widget will display.
  2. Choose a Draw Type. Choose from Point, Line, Freehand Line, Polygon, Freehand Polygon, or Text.
  3. Select the opacity, fill style, line style, or text style to change the attributes of the drawing.
  4. Click Start Drawing.
  5. Click a point on the map to begin drawing.
  6. Click Clear Drawing in the Map Draw widget to clear all drawings from the map.

To Measure:

  1. Click Measure in the drop down. The Measure widget will display.
  2. Click Area, Distance, or Location.
  3. For Area and Distance you can choose whether to measure in acres, sq miles, sq kilometers, hectares, sq yards, sq feet, or sq meters. For location you can choose from degrees and DMS.
  4. Click a starting point on the map and an ending point.
  5. The measurement results will display in the Measure widget.

To view the TOC, click TOC in the drop down. The Table of Contents widget will display listing the table of contents.

To Print the map:

  1. Click Print in the drop down.
  2. Enter a title for your map.
  3. Choose a print layout by selecting Landscape PDF, Landscape PNG, Portrait PDF, or Portrait PNG form the Print drop down. The map will print.

To view a list of FAQs, click FAQ from the drop down. The FAQ widget will display with a list of frequently asked questions and answers.
